Armenia-Quindío-Colombia will be the venue for the 4th IEEE Colombian BioCAS (ColBioCAS) Workshop 2025. This workshop is a joint event between the IEEE Colombian Chapters of the Circuits and Systems (CAS) and the Engineering Medicine and Biology (EMB) Societies that aims to present the progress and development of the academic, scientific, and industrial usage of bioengineering technologies for monitoring, controlling, and aiding biological systems, ecosystems, crops, and the human body. The workshop is organized in conferences and mini-courses with experts, and the exchange of ideas and solutions proposed by researchers, students and professionals. Papers will be reviewed by technical committee under the IEEE standard procedure. Accepted papers must be presented in oral sessions, which is mandatory to be published in the conference proceedings (IEEE Xplore database, including ISBN). In countries such as Colombia, an IC design industry has not been developed, partly due to the poor accessibility of EDA tools for IC design, due to customs restrictions or high costs. The recent availability of open-source IC design tools, open-source PDKs for mature IC technologies at 180nm and 130nm, and initiatives to universalise IC design (such as the UNIC-CASS programme) allow countries like Colombia to dream of developing an IC design industry.
