[] The IEEE Colombian Conference on Communications and Computing (COLCOM), organized by the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) aims at showing the progress and development of the academic, scientific and industrial usage of the different areas of telecommunications and computing. COLCOM is the most important conference held anually in Colombia, and attracts submissions and participants from the whole country and its neighbor countries. The conference covers the scope of all ComSoc Technical Committees and has a broad technical program that includes renowned keynote speakers and comprehensive tutorials presenting the state-of-the-art in communications. This year will mark the 19th edition of COLCOM, and the city of Bucaramanga has been chosen to host the conference. Cambiemos el Chip Fest llega a Medellín como parte de su circuito nacional de activación: una serie de encuentros previos al festival principal que reunirá a estudiantes, profesionales, empresas, universidades, makers, comunidades técnicas y personas interesadas en construir tecnología desde el hardware. Esta jornada será un espacio para conversar sobre el presente y futuro de la electrónica en Colombia, visibilizar capacidades locales, conocer proyectos, hacer networking y conectar con otras personas del ecosistema y abrir caminos de participación hacia Cambiemos el Chip Fest, el festival colombiano de electrónica, talento e innovación que se realizará en Cali en Marzo de 2027. The presentation will begin with an introduction retracing the evolution towards increased electrification in aircraft, from the concept of the “more electric aircraft” to future prospects for all-electric airplanes. We will review the development of on-board power needs, highlighting iconic examples such as the Concorde and next-generation aircraft like the A350 and B787. An overview of the future of electric protection devices up to 2050 will be presented, along with a discussion of the challenges linked to increasing power and the introduction of high-voltage systems, including HVDC, HVAC, and PWM. The main elements of the power chain will also be briefly introduced. The section dedicated to generation will highlight power system architecture, the diversity of generation sources, and an introduction to power electronics, with a focus on the associated electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) challenges. The harness segment will explore issues related to high-voltage power transport, crosstalk, shielding, and will include a focus on harness simulation. The engine section will present the transition towards “Smart Engines,” with an introduction to their specific challenges, particularly regarding filtering. Finally, the presentation will conclude with a recap of the solutions proposed to meet the challenges identified in generation, harness, and engine systems, followed by a brief bibliography.
